Permission having been granted by the Government, 23 Alaskan huskies be.longina to the Byrd Antarctic expedition, will be transported to Mount Cook to-morrow to undergo training and to sledge material for the new nut at Malte Brun. The landing of the dogs has been held up for months owing to the protests of the Sheepowners’ Association, but the authorities have been convinced that every preca ’on will be taken to prevent the escape of the animals. It is said the greatest danger, should one get loose, is not that it will stray, but that it will attack the others nt the chain, for they are fierce fighters among themselves.
