DONOVAN DEFEATS LESLIE

WAIT ARA BOXER’S EASY WIN. (By Wire—Special Reporter.) Wanganui, Last Night. Tommy Donovan, Waitara, scored an easy win over George Leslie, Auckland, here to-night in a ten-round contest. The Taranaki man weighed, 8.13 and the Aucklander 9.2. Right from the gong Donovan made the pace and bored in with telling rights and lefts which shook Leslie. Leslie connected twice and then had to give ground to Donovan, who sank a couple of hard blows to the stomach. It was Donovan’s round. The second and third rounds saw Donovan score heavily at in-fighting and make Leslie miss badly on occasions. The opening of he fourth round saw Leslie in a better light, and he landed with a couple of good lefts. The end of the round, however, saw Donovan again having the best of matters. After that Donovan had all the best of the going and at the end of the ienth round Leslie was helpless.
