WELLINGTON. WINTER SHOW

OBSERVATION BUS TOURS, The Tramways Department has a number of specially equipped buses for sightseeing tours and these leave twice daily (10 a.m. and 2 p.m.) on a delightful tour of the city environs. Starting from the State Fire Insurance Buildings on Lambton Quay, the bus calls at the sightseeing booking office in the Tost Office Square, near the Queen’s Wharf, and from this point the tour commences. On Sundays special sightseeing tours are run to Mangaroa via the Hutt Valley. NEW ZEALAND MANUFACTURERS’ . EXHIBITION. Visitors, both young and old, to the forthcoming Wellington Winter Show to be held from July 9 to July 27 in the new and large exhibition buildings will find many exhibits of an interesting and educative value. Amongst the moving exhibits showing some process of manufacture will be seen the following;—A model of the latest paint grinding machine actually grinding the product; the manufacture of shirts and pvjamas showing machines making buttonholes and another actually sewing the buttons on, also a two-needle seaming machine doing 4000 stitches per minute; envelopes being made by a machine that can turn out 35,000 per day at the same time counting them into packets of twenty-five; a knitting machine in connection with the woollen industry; cigarette and pipe tobacco made from New Zealand grown leaf and illustrated by a cinema picture. Approximately eighty stalls will be housed in the industrial section and in addition to those just mentioned the various uses of gas and electricity will be shown both from heating and cooking points of view. Other industries represented will be, engineering, furniture, soap, motor body building, bacon, confectionery, biscuits, knives, besides many others that will be displaying articles to eat, wear and use, all being necessary in our every day needs of life.
