The monthly meeting of the Waitara Plunket Society was held on Friday. The nurse’s report showed 75 babies on the list, the secretary reported tne mart held last month was successful, £ll 8s 3d being added to the funds. The bridge evening held on July 3 was successful, though, owing, to the prevalence of sickness the attendance was not as large as otherwise it would lia’vc been.

A welcome home to Mr. and Mrs. Turner, who have been on their honeymoon, was given by their neighbours at the residence-of Mr. R... Giddy on Thursday evening. Mr. G. V. Tate, the oldest resident in the district, welcomed the couple. There were about 40 present. , Canon Gavin, the Rev. K. Hadfield, and Mr. C. R. Stead returned from' Hamilton on Friday, they having attended the Anglican Synod.
