EMDEN AT WELLINGTON

USUAL COURTESIES OBSERVED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, July 6. The Emden arrived at 8 o’clock. A salute of 21 guns was given from Point Jerningham. The cruiser was berthed at the Clyde Quay wharf. Mr. Penseler, German Consul for New Zealand, went on board, also Lieut.-Com-mander C. P. M. Lyons, of the Naval Department. About 200 people were in the vicinity of the wharf to witness the arrival. During the morning a series of formal calls were made by Commander Arnauld to the Governor-General, the Harbour Board, the Mayor and Navy Department,. Commander Arnauld was accompanied by Mr. Penseler. Captain Von Arnauld and Mr. Penseler called on th 3 Premier at Parliament House at 10.30 this morning. Sir Joseph Ward and several of the Ministers of the Crown returned the call an hour later.
