DAIRY MARKETS SLOW. “The London butter market is slow at 170 s to 1735, with unsalted 170 s to 1725, wheys firsts 156 s and seconds 1525; the cheese market is slow. Coloured is 92s to 94s and white 90s to 925,” states a cable received by Aiessrs. Newton King, Ltd., ou Saturday. Aiessrs. Collett and Co., Ltd., are in receipt of the following cable advice from their British principals: Creamery butter is 170 s to 172 s and cheese 90s to 925. The Anglo-Continental Company has been advised that New Zealand butter is steady at 172 s to 1745. HERDS AVERAGE GOOD PRICE. During the past week the I’armors Co-op. has held some very successful clearing sales and dairy catlie have been coming forward to their yard sales in large numbers. Good dairy cattle are still meeting with keen demand. On Tuesday they submitted the high producing herd of 50 dairy cows of Air. A. S. Preece. The cows were a herd of very fine dairy sorts, big deep-bodied cows in splendid condition. Buyers were prpesent from all the neighbouring districts. Cows realised the following prices; £l3 10s, £l6, £l4 10s, £l2 10s, £lB. Springing heifers realised £9 to £l4. The herd averaged just under £l4. On Wednesday Air. R. H. Jones’ sale on the Keteinarae Road, in conjunction with Aiessrs. Newton King, Ltd., proved a great success. The herd was a very line lot of Jerseys, fawns predominating. They were good early ealvers and in splendid condition. Prices ranged as follows: £l7, £l3, £l6, £lB IDs, £l2 10s. The whole herd of 75 cows, including a few threequarter and empty cows, averaged £l2 10s. At the Hawera sale on Thursday a good yarding of all classes of stock came forward to a good attendance of buyers, and the firm reports a total clearance at the following satisfactory prices:— Weancr pigs, 6s 6d to 8s; stores, 17s 6d to 31s 6d; good fat and forward B.F. lambs, 22s 2d; W.F. wether hoggets, 23s 3d to 25s 3d; light fat bullocks, £l2 ss; fat cows, £9 2s 6d to £lO 10s; store cows, £3 to £4 12s 6d; sound empty cows, £5 to £5 12s; good medium weaner heifers, £4 17s 6d to £5; dairy cows, £lO. £l2 10s, £-14 10s, £lo 10s. On Friday at Waver ley the firm held its fortnightly sale, when a good yarding of stock, including two choice dairy herds, came forward and a total clearance was made at prices satisfactory to the vendors. Aged ewes in lamb to S.D, rams, 25s 9d, 26s 4d to 30s 3d; fat B.F. lambs, 24s 8d; medium AI.S.W.F. lambs, 245; store cows, £3 9s to £4 14s; forward AI.T. cows, £5 18s to £7 15s; M.T. 2-year heifers, £5 to £6 17s 6d; dairy herd on account of Air.' Egmont Dickie, £l2 10s, £l4 10s, £l5 10s, £lB, £l9 10s. The herd averaged £l3 10s.. On account of Air. Geo. Hunter cows realised £l3, £l6, £2O 10s, £22 and £32. The herd averaged £l7.

The fortnightly sale of hides, skins and tallow was held in Wellington on Friday last. There was a fair attendance of buyers. In sympathy with the wool market, sheepskins showed an allround drop of from Id to per lb.
