Admiral Sir .Georg© Hope has disclosed that on the occasion of his visit to Nelson’s flagship the Victory the King made the suggestions for restoration at pr© j sent being carried out, and the Admiralty agreed to assist the work from the naval votes and has given a sit© for buildings within a stone’s throw of the Victory for the purpose of a museum. Sir George Hope declared all that human ingenuity could suggest to preserve Nelson's flagship had been done. Sir George Hope, speaking at the annual meeting of the Society for Nautical Research at the Royal United Services’ Institution, said that the fund to save the Victory, which was begun in 1922 and realised £75,060, was now exhausted. Since they started the work of restoration and’ preservation in 1923 more than £lOO,OOO had been spent upon th© ship.
