GLENHOPE AYRSHIRES

SUCCESSFUL DISPERSAL SALE.

KEEN INTEREST AROUSED.

The sale of Mr. Phil Bremer’s wellknown Glenhope Ayrshire herd was held yesterday at the homestead, Okaiawa. As was expected, the sale aroused considerable interest and a representative gathering of buyers was present from all over Taranaki and from Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa, Manawatu, Waikato and Awakino. Competition was at times animated, especially for several daughters of Raleigh of Ashleigh. Mr. W. N. Ordish, of Awakino, secured the two highest priced cows in “Glenhope Bess (55 guineas) and Glenhope Lassie (51 guineas), whilst Mr. Fred Weston, of Uruti, paid 46 guineas for Struanbrae Curiosity, one of the best daughters of Generosity of Woodlands, C.O.R. 5701bs fat. Messrs W. Hall, Lepperton, Andrew Weir, Kent Road, and W. Moore, Masterton, were also active buyers of females, each securing, valuable consignments. The herd sires were keenly competed for, Mr. A. H. Clements, of Rototuna, buying Greenbank Exchange for 34 guineas, and Mr. A. Weir Ivanhoe Silvercrest for 27} guineas.

Considering the very rough weather during the past few days, Mr. Bremer yarded his cattle in excellent condition. He also had splendid arrangements made for the conduct of the sale, which was held in a spacious marquee. The large catalogue was put through in quick time by the auctioneers, Messrs - Newton King, Ltd., and tlio Farmers’ Co-op.
