HAWERA BOWLERS BEATEN.

Three rinks from the Hawera Bow'rng Club visited the Kaponga green on Saturday and played a friendly maten in which they were defeated by a narrow margin after close finishes in two rinks. The scores are:— K. H.
Pascoe, Melville, Williams, Hawkins (s) 31 Dale, Neilson, Keys, Robertson (s) ' Law, O’Neill, Thurston, Tyack (s) 19 Champion, Payne, Burgess, Renwick (s) — 2:) Guy, Charters, Cran, Dawson (s) 18 — Saunders, McDonald, Foden, Leslie (s) — 16 PERSONAL ITEMS. Air. C. Twist, manager of the Farm ers’ Co-op., is on annual leave. Misses Bootten, New Plymouth, who have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. A. Guy, returned home on Saturday. Mr. and Airs. Cook, who for the past fortnight have been holiday-making in this district, returned to their home in Waipukurau on Monday. A large number of people from the Kaponga district went to Stratford on Thursday for the Caledonian sports, where two of the Kaponga competitors, R. Noonan and F, Litchwark, were in £h'e prize list.
