(British Official Wireless.) Rugby, Jan. 27.
The Prime Minister, addressing a public meeting at Dundee last night, stated there were to-day a better tone and more hope in the industrial world than there had been for some time past. The trend of trade was upward. It was not rapid but it was more widespread than it had been. The State could help but the less it tried to control the bettor it’ would bo for the Industry. The Prime Minister .attached great importance to the scientific discoveries now in the process of application which might be of the greatest help. He mentioned in particular the provision of fertiliser from the fixation of nitrogen. This he described as the only good thing that came out of the war. He mentioned the liquidation of coal, “which may transform our coalfields.” Referring to the industrial changes taking place Mr. Baldwin expressed confidence that the transitional period had now been passed and that unless anything untoward occurred, definitely better times would soon be reached.
