BYRD LEAVES SAN PEDRO HARBOUR By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Oct. 11, 7.5 p.m. United Service. Los Angeles, Oct. 10. Commander Byrd sailed aboard the whaler C. A. Larsen this evening from San Pedro harbour for the Antarctic. WILKINS ON HIS WAY SOUTH. BASE TO BE AT DECEPTION ISLAND Received Oct. 11, 5.5 p.m. Montevideo, Oct. 16. Sir Hubert Wilkins, with two companion explorers, arrived here to day on the steamer Southern Cross. They will remain two weeks, after which t’ j will embark by the steamer Victoria for Deception Island to establish a base for their Antarctic flights.
