HOUSEWIVES’ LOT EASIER

HOST OF NEW DEVICES EXHIBITED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Londoi., Oct. 10. A host of new devices at the annual inventions exhibition appears to be making the lot of housewives much easier. Sir Herbert Morgan, at the opening, said he feared that womenkind would eventually lose their natural skill and become mere automatons. The novelties include a wire attachment on the lid of a kettle, which turns off the gas when the kettle boils; a device which seals pie crust and prevents the juice escaping; an oversharp bread knife, which makes no crumbs; a teapot on the thermos principle; a folding telescope umbrella which can be accommodated in a lady’s handbag; a telephone attachment, which it is claimed in the event of a subscriber’s absence, records the calling number and the message.
