CAPE TO CAIRO BY MOTOR

A motor trip from Cairo to Capetown in 40 days has been completed by a young South African, Gerry Bouwer, with his wife. Against his wish his wife stowed away in the car at Cairo. Thousands participated in the wild welcome to him. The Administrator stressed the fact that they had accomplished a feat which man considered impossible. In South Africa there had been several famous rides, and this was one of the most famous. Mr. Bouwer said that in a few years the great north road would be open.
