PRESBYTERIANS IN TARANAKI

MEETING OF THE PRESBYTERY. The Taranaki Presbytery met at Stratford on Tuesday, the Rev. N. J. Fletcher presiding; The Rev. A. Whitelaw, being present, was associated. The statistical report showed there had been an increase in membership and a considerable reduction in the indebtedness of the various congregations. Contributions to the budget schemes were much below the previous year. * The Rev. D. D. Scott, of Onehunga, was nominated as moderator-designate of the General Assembly. The Revs. Evans, Miller, MacGregor, Martin and Stewart, with elders from Waitara, Eltham, Hawera, Patea and Waverley, were appointed as representatives to the assembly. Mr. Miller was nominated to the committee on standing committee, and Mr. MacGregor to the records committee. An application for permission to sell a section at Waitara was referred to the presbytery’s commission with power to act. Mr. Whitelaw then addressed the Presbytery on Bible class matters.
