NEW AUCTION ROOMS OPENED.
With just on five years as fruit and produce auctioneers in New Plymouth, Messrs. Sturm and Phillips (who have established a reputation in this particular business) have decided to extend their operations to include regular sales of fruit, vegetables, produce, poultry land furniture. To do this it was necessary that new premises be secured, and arrangements were finally made with Mr. A. E. Sykes to erect what is now Sykes’ Buildings, situated opposite the Ford garage, Devon Street. The building is now completed and the sale room will be known as The City Market, being an up-to-date room where provision is made for the conduct of every class of auction sale except stock. The main entrance is from Devon Street, , with a clear space of 12 feet between |the walls and an entrance for lorries. A turning space is provided from Gill Street. The market room proper has 3500 square feet floor space, and is one of the best auction rooms in the North Island. The construction is such that it is almost fireproof, perfectly hygienic, well ventilated, and wonderfully lighted, making an ideal place for the conduct of auction sales. An invitation is extended to all to inspect The City Market to see the facilities offered for selling. Furniture sales can be arranged to be conducted without the hire of an outside building or extra expense to the vendor. Messrs. Sturm and Phillips are now occupying The City Market and will conduct their first sale tomorrow at 10.30 a.m.
