CORRESPONDENCE

A VISITOR'S IMPRESSIONS. (To the Editor.) Sir, —After a few years’ absence I had the pleasure of seeing your town again, and I must say it is a little town to be proud of. It is one of the few towns where a person can have the sea, the country, the town (with all its modern advantages) in a few minutes, and with your climate, neither too hot nor too cold, and rainfall, no wonder you can have good gardens. Then contrary to Auckland, you have no insect pests, and they count. I also had a look round at your harbour, and I could not realise it was the same place of, seven or eight years ago. They tell me in New Plymouth that the present Harbour Board are a bit slow, but anvhow, I cannot find them having made many mistakes, and all harbour boards in New Zealand cannot say that. Then again, New Plymouth has the beautiful Pakekura Park, a place again to be proud of, and then beyond the town is that grand old Mount Egmont. —I am, A FORMER RESIDENT OF N.P.
