SAILORS WASHED OVERBOARD
ACCIDENT IN BIG TASMAN STORM. By Telegraph—Press Assu. —Copyright. Received Oct. 7, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 7. During the voyage of the auxiliary schooner Piri, which arrived to-day from Greymouth, two seamen named Laing and West were washed overboard by a huge wave on the evening of September There was no chance of lowering a boat, but Captain Watt manoeuvred the schooner to give the men smooth water cn the lee side. They were aboard again after 17 minutes’ immersion. The whole voyage was marked by violent storms.
