AUSTRIAN PARTY PARADE
TOWN LIKE BATTLE GROUND
RUMOURED FASCIST MARCH HOSPITAL PROVIDES BEDS By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Australian Press Association. Received Oct. 7, 5;5 p.m. Sun Ca'ble. Vienna, Oct. 5. A great gathering at Wiennerneustadt on October 7 will represent a display of the strength in which the three parties, namely, the Heimwest Austrian Fascists, the Sehutzband Socialists and the Government are participating. The town resembles a field ready for battle. Twenty thousand Socialists are parading, while an equal number of Fascists are also parading as a counterdemonstration. The Fascists are assembling at the opposite end of the town to the Socialists, while between the two parties are the Government i forces of 2000 steel-helmeted soldiers and 300 gendarmes, who have Austria’s only motor field battery, two horse batteries and machine-guns in order to prevent a clash. Three hundred extra beds have been provided in the hospital, while thirty stretchers are available. The schoolboys have vacated the boarding school, w’hich will be used as barracks. All army leave has been stopped. The Socialists intend to prevent a rumoured Fascist march on Vienna analagous to Mussolini's march on Rome.
