WATERSIDERS’ BANNER. WANGANUI LOSE TO MOTUROA. An amusing burlesque was staged on the New Plymouth racecourse on Saturday afternoon when the Wanganui watersiders attempted to defend their rights to the watersiders’ banner against the Moturoa watersiders. In the first spell the New Plymouth team had much the better of the game, coming within an ace of scoring on several occasions, but erratic handling nullified promising movements. On the call of time G. Young secured and ran across near the posts, R. Voice adding the major points and putting Wanganui 5 up. Fluctuating play followed in the second spell and the players showed signs of their exertions in the first half. The first score for New Plymouth came when McDonald was given a free kick for a flagrant off-side, and put the ball over from the side line. Heartened by this, the local team made play willing and from a melee in front of the posts Berry picked up and his essay at a field goal was successful.

No further score followed and - the game ended: Moturoa W T atersiders 7, Wanganui Watersiders 5. Mr. L. Hoffmann ably controlled the game.
