WAGES OF SHEEP SHEARERS
NO SETTLEMENT YET REACHED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Oct. 6. No settlement was reached at the conference between representatives of the Sheepowners’ Association and the shearers’ unions during the last two days, but it is hoped that one will be attained before the conference is resumed. The employers are proposing that for five years wages and piecework rates be adjusted on a sliding scale based on average wool prices over a period of years.
