The Land Laws Amendment Bill was reported from the House of Representatives and-put through all stages and passed. The Municipal Corporations Amendment Bill was passed with amendments, after further consideration in committee. Progress was reported on the Motor Vehicles Insurance (third party risks) Bill. The Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Amendment Bill and the Opticians Bill were reported without amendment. After some discussion, in the course of which the Leader of the Council, Sir Francis Bell, pointed out that the Public Trustee was obliged by statute to carry out all duties entrusted to him as a trustee, the motion was defeated by 24 to 5.
