OUR SWEET-MAKING CORNER.
This is a Mexican recipe for delicious sweets, which I hope you will like as much as the little Mexican boys and girls do. You will want three cupsful of brown sugar, half a cupful of milk, a piece of butter the size of a walnut, two tablespoonsful of grated chocolate and one cupful of chopped nuts. (Use half these quantities the first time, just as an experiment!) Boil all the ingredients, except the nuts, for seventeen or twenty minutes, stirring all tho time; test in the usual way by dropping a little into cold water. When the candy is cooked, add the nu.ts and a little vanilla flavouring, remove from the stove and beat the mixture thoroughly, until it becomes cool. Four it on to a buttered tin, mark in squares before it seta and leave in a cool place for at least twelve- hours.
