SCHOOL COMMITTEE. (From Our Own Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Inglewood School Committee was held in the school on Wednesday, when the following were present. Messrs. Koberts (chairman), Braybrooke,- Armstrong, leaver, Sutherland, Grant and Mulholland. The Education Board advised the committee that the question of repairs to a certain classroom had been referred to the board's architect for attention. The board advised’ it had no authority to authorise the committee to have clocks repaired. In connection with the application made by the Inglewood branch of the W.C.T.l 1 . the board notified that according to tlie board’s by-laws committees should not allow the school. to be used for other than school purposes when other buildings were available,but the committee might grant the use of the school for moral and religious instruction after school hours. It was therefore decided to advise the W.C.T.U. that the committee could not grant the school for Bible instruction. The chairman was authorised to obtain an estimate for the cost of repairs to the clocks. Tho secretary (Mr. Mulholland) was instructed to ask the Education Board to expedite certain urgent repairs to tho wall. Tho headmaster (Mr. Kirk) stated that the average attendance for the last quarter was 2(19 but at present the average was uuder 260 out of a roll of 280, owing no doubt to influenza and colds which were affecting many children. The chief inspector had visited the school on June 21 and 22 and was well satisfied with the working. The visiting committee notified that several small repairs were required and tho committee authorised ill* repaiit to bo carried out. Mrs. McGowan was granted permission to give lessons in elocution one afternoon per week after school hours. It was decided to congratulate Miss Tarry and the basketball team on again winning tho basketball shield. Messrs. Braybrooke and Sudwr'and were appointed the visiting coiunittcos for tho month.
