CHINESE TROOPS REVOLT
TROUBLE AT CHIHLI MINES E SITUATION ALREADY ACUTE PROTECTING TROOPS SENT British Official Wireless. Rugby, June 24. The absence of control over large numbers of the Chihli and Shantung troops in the coal-mining area of Tongshan and Kailan, is causing considerable anxiety, and there is danger of all discipline among the troops disappearing. The situation has already been rendered acute owing to their threatening attitude and internal quarrels. In order to protect the British and Chinese lives and property in the area, a battalion of British troops was yesterday dispatched from Wei-Hai-Wei for Chin-Wang-Tao, whence they will proceed at once to Tongshan.
