DISMISSAL OF MR. MALING REFUND OF BRIBE DEMANDED OTHER ACTIONS PENDING By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Australian Press Association. Sydney, June 25. The Sydney Civic Commissioners have decided not to accept Mr. Maling’s resignation, which was dated June 1, but have dismissed him as from the date of his suspension from the position of de-puty-manager of the city’s electricity department. The commissioners have also instructed the civic authorities to demand the deposit by Mr. Maling into the city funds of £10,600, said to have been received by him as secret commission in connection with a contract for the supply of certain plant. The city solicitor has been instructed to obtain counsel’s opinion regarding the recovery of money from the other • persons concerned. One of the Sydney Civic Commissioners, Mr. Morton, stated that a judge would be engaged for the next six months sifting Sydney eivie scandals, and the Civic Commissioners will ask that one Royal Commission conduct all the inquiries.
