FOUR-LEAF CLOVER LUCK
AUCKLAND LADY’S EXPERIENCE. (By Wire—Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. The special lucw attaching io the finding of a four-leaf clover, otherwise known as shamrock, was evidenced a few days ago when Miss Ivy Brown, residing at 19 Wynyard Road, Mt. Eden, picked up one of these rareties and immediately afterwards received word that she was to receive £lO,OOO under the will of an uncle in England over which there had been litigation. Miss Brown is a New Zealander by birth, one was rn in Dunsandel, near Christchurch, both her father and mother coming from England. “I have a.i.uj been looking for fourleafed shamrocks,” said Miss Brown, “and I began to think that after all there was not much luck attaching to them, but I certainly had to reverse my decision when I 'fluked’ on the morning the result of the proceedings was cabled. It won’t make any difference to me as far as setting up a big establishment is concerned. I have been used to getting along with very moderate means, and I intend to go to England in a few months’ time and settle down to peacefully enjoy what has been left to me. There has always been a great deal of money in the family. My grandfather was almost a millionaire, making his money over the Crimean War. My uncles would have died very much wealthier had they not been affected by the swindles of Whittaker Wright. I was called Ivy because I suppose I was such a rare flower of the family, and it may be this botanic name that has given me such a love to a look for the four-leafed shamrock. I intend to live at ease and I have a housekeeper in England waiting for my return.”
