SCARVES AGAIN.
The vogue of the muffled neck is as,ertmg itself as part of the price to bo paid for the return to fashion of the smart tailor-made look. Efforts to popularise high collars for Indoor wear, made from time to time during recent seasons, have met with little support. Women Isays a London writer) prefer the low neck-lino, which has given them health and firm round throats in place of ugly necks, on which tight collars registered their mark. Outdoor, however, small fur necklets have been worn by the hundred thousand in summer as well as winter, and the dressmakers are consequently thinking out fabric alternatives to the fur choker. One such idea advanced this spring is the long narrow silk scarf wrapped closely round the throat and tied in a large bow slightly to the side, much after the manner of the scarves worn by old-fashioned little French bova. These are worn with spring tailormades, and are of the same shade ns the hat.
BILL OF SALE.
In an old oak chest I found it, —a relic of long ago; a queer, old-fa,,hioned inventory of a home I used to know. Ivory, and jade, and silver plate; linen, and pots and pans; sold to the highest bidder, and carted away in vans. One by one, down the loim. long list, I noted, here and there, the treasures I still remembered—then came to K A Tj "y’s Chair.” Cushioned, and in the best brocade, said the well-worn bill of sale. And (hat, for me, was the poignant page of an old romantic tale.
A tale of vanished luxury, and of loving trust betrayed; of one who wooed
his lady's wealth, ere she woke a bci’f'ar-maid. A tale of a brol heart and home, and Hight to a distant land. And a wisp of tear-stained handkerchief in a frail and fluttering hand.
