MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS STRATHMORE CLUB TO BE FORMED Its consent to tho formation of a football club in the Strathmore district was given by the management committee of the Stratford Football Club last night, r. L, Bunn, representing the Strathmore district, waited on the committee. The club would play under the Whangamomona sub-union, he said. The Celtic Club wrote that if the Stratford Club gave its consent to tho proposal the Celtic Club would be de-U'-ved of several of its present players.
Members voiced the opinion that as ho competitions had already commenced and as the Celtic Club would lose at [least three players if the proposed club I were formed, it did not seem fair to the Celtic Club to grant the request. “I do not think we should oppose the formation of a club merely on the grounds that the Celtic Club will lose three or four players,” said Mr. D. J. Malone.
After further discussion it was decided to grant the application providing the Strathmore players now playing for Celtic be allowed to play for that club during the remainder of this season. In \view of the Strathmore club’s wish to play under the Whangamomona sub(union, it was resolved that the Stratford chib should recommend to the fjaranaki Rugby Union that the boundary of the Whangamomona sub-union ‘be extended to the western boundary of the Whangamomona county. W. H. Moore’s application to play fot Eltham seniors was approved. Messrs. Malone and H. M. Good were appointed to procure boxes and planks to supplement the seating accommodation in Victoria Park for the North v. South trial match. It was decided to draw the union's attention to the fact that all matches were meagrely advertised. In this connection Mr. Malone stated that it seemed to him the union was very lax in its methods of advertising matches, and especially the North v. South match. The following officers were elected for the Dewar Shield competition.:— Supervisor,( Mr. D. J. Malone; disputes committee, Messrs. R. Masters, L. J Furrie and E. H. Young; call steward, Mr. R. Woods; blackboard steward, Mr. F. Bowler; announcer, Mr. D. Young; timekeepers, Messrs. Petrie (subject to their consent); ball stewards. Messrs. C. Laraplough, W. G. Thurston and A R. Masters.
