Insurances iu the fire at Abels, Ltd, were £22,100 in tho New Zealand lusurnnoo Company, including £5lOO on tho building and £17.000 on machinery, stock and plant. Tho machinery, valued at over £90,000, was destroyed, also vats containing 10001 b. of margarine ami 700 boxes of margarine ready for shipm -nt. Il was a most spectacular blaze, with nu element of great danger, which was averted by the plucky action of a fireman, who raked out the fir from under a boiler working al very high preosurty owing to tho heat.
