INGLEWOOD NEWS,

GENERAL ITEMS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) On Sunday evening a special Masonic service was held at the Anglican Church when the members of Lodge Moa. A.F.V.A.M. were present. Bro. the Rev. H. Lindsay conducted the service, and Bro. L. Kohn sang a solo. Mr. A. V. Kenrick, manager of the P-ank of New Zealand at Inglewood for some years, will be retiring from that position at the end of January. It is understood that Mr. Kenrick intends settling in the Waikato district. Mr. and Mis. Kenrick will bo greatly missed by their many friends in this town. Quite a sensation was caused in Inglewood yesterday morning when the unexpected news of tho death of the Mayor of New Plymouth (Mr. F. E. Wilson) became known. He had many friends and admirers in this town, and his death is a distinct loss to New Plymouth and the district.

The Stratford Eel Club will have to look to its laurels as tho Inglewood district can beat any of the Stratford efforts. There was on exhibition in a local business place yesterday a monster eel which was landed from a tributary of the Waitepuku on Sunday afternoon by three young school boys of the Norfolk Road School, namely- Masters Blanchard and Ryan brothers. This monster turned the scale at 28>41bs, and was 4ft 9in long and had a girth 15yjin. It was a fine specimen!; of a fish, and of even size, its girth being the same nine inches from the tip of its head as it was 13 inches from the end of its tai. The boys landed their catch with an ordinary line and hook, no gaff being used.
