LAMB EXPORT INDUSTRY

PROSPECTS FOR THE SEASON. <By Wire—Special to News.) Auckland, Last Night. Jn view of the early opening of the lamb export season, a pressman this morning interviewed Mr. J. E. McGill, chairman of directors, and Mr. T. Simson, general manager, of the Auckland Farmers’ Freezing Company. They expressed the opinion that while prospects were bright, it was well to realise that high opening prices might not necessarily be . maintained. Much depended upon tiie kind of weather that prevailed during the next few months. Speaking of the lamb , export trade, Mr. Simson said that to a small extent it had already commenced, some consignments being on their way to England. In anticipation of the rush that would soon occur the company was opening the works at Moerewa on November 28. From the beginning of next month a steady stream would pour into the company’s three works, the combined capacity of which was about 8000 carcases per day. The rush would be sustained for a few months, but its extent would be regulated by the kind of season experienced.
