WOODPULPING INDUSTRY
DOMINION DEVELOPMENT* RESOLUTIONS AT ROTORUA, By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Oct. 17. The possibilities of the woodpulping industry in New Zealand were discussed at a meeting of the Rotorua Chamber ot Commerce. Addresses were given by Mr. C. Clinkard and Mr. H. A. Goudie, late conservator of State forests at Rotorua. A resolution was passed drawing the attention of tlie Government to the possibilities for the development of a great woodpulping industry centred on the Kaituna River. It was also resolved to ask the Government to ascertain the amount of raw material available and the suitability or otherwise of native timbers, the time necessary to grow timber suitable for the pulping industry, to secure a suitable site for the erection of works, and to make a survey of the Kaituna Valley with a view to rail and road construction, and the establishment of the industry generally.
