SAMOAN COMMISSION

HEARING IN ANOTHER ISLAND. Special to Press Association—By Radio. Apia, Oct. 15. Toelupe and Tuaiagaloa, chiefs and Faipules, testified that under New Zealand's administration Samoa was more prosperous than under former controls. The New Zealand administration was fqr the good of Samoa. Evidence established that Samoan custom gave absolutely no voice to the Samoan rank and file in political matters. Several other Faipules testified similarly regarding the beneficial effects of New Zealand control. Received Oet. 17, 7.20 p.m. Apia, Oct. 16. The commission yesterday adjourned its sitting jn Apia for a week, and tonight takes the steamer for Savaii, where the Government native officials and others will give evidence on lines similar to that at Apia. Witnesses concerning the practices of the Mau and any other evidence offered will be heard.
