LESLIE MURDER CASE
ACCUSED MEN'S NOVEL ACTION. WRIT AGAINST A NEWSPAPER. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Oct. 17, 11.25 p.m. Sydney, Oct. 17. The three Higgs brothers, charged in connection with the death of Ronald Leslie, applied to the Judge in chambers for a rule nisi for a writ of attachment against Robert Clyde, packer, printer, and publisher of the Daily Guardian newspaper. The applicants alleged that since they had been arrested respondent had published pictures and letterpress which the applicants contended seriously prejudiced them if they were committed for trial.
A rule nisi, returnable on Monday next, was granted.
A message from Sydney, dated October 13, stated that a mysterious tragedy was reported. Ronald Lachlan Leslie, a grazier and a man of means, left his home in Manly in a motor ear alone to visit one of his country properties. The same evening the car was found standing on the road, off the main Western Road, near Blaxland. Leslie was inside, dead, with three bullet wounds in his Idlest. He had apparently been dead ! some time. It was at first thought to bo a ease of suicide, but as no weapon was in evidence the police regarded the case as one of murder.
