Mr. Harry Hickey, the veteran horse trainer, has died, reports a Hastings Press Association message. Christchurch reports the death of Mr, W. J. Jenkins, a well-known member of the Manufacturers’ Association. Mr. George Davey died at Apiti on Friday. He was born in New Plymouth in 1854, and is survived by his wife and seven daughters and a son. Mr. and Mrs. J. General Sir Charles Mansfield Clarke is on a visit to New Plymouth. General Clarke spent five years here from 1861 to 1866 with his regiment, the 57th. The recent 18 days’ period New Plymouth Lad experienced without rain was broken on Friday afternoon by a steady fall.
