The Bishop of Wellington, the Rt. Rev. Dr. T. H. Sprott, who arrived in Hawera on Friday evening and conducted a confirmation service at St. Mary’s Church, left for Wanganui on f turday morning. He was a guest of the Rev. H. W. Monaghan during his stay in Hawera. Mr. M, J. Kennedy, manager of the Wellington Gas Company, his son, Mr. 11. Kennedy, Mr. A. M. Taykr, Wellington inspector, and Mr. J. A. Hallivvell, representing Rabbidge and Co., arrived in Hawera on Friday in connection with the installation of the new holder at the gasworks.

On Saturday morning the principals and the staff of Messrs. O’Dea and Bayley’s office farewelled Mr,. W. Brown, who is leaving to join the legal br..neh of the Public Trustee in Wellington. In presenting Mr. Brown with a travelling rug, Mr, O’Dea spoke of the loyalty and devotion to duty of 'r. Brown, who had been just on twelve years in the office, which he had joined just after leaving school at Matapu. It was a compliment to Mr. Brown that he had been selected by the Public Trustee from so many applicants. He' predicted for Mr. Brown brilliant future. ' Mr. Bayley spoke

of the happy times they had had in the office, and said that never once in the long period of twelve years had there been the slightest friction. Mr. J. Callaghan also spoke on behalf of the staff, wishing Mr. Brown every success. Mr. Brown feelingly replied, and said that he would never forget the kindness he ha.’, received. ITCHING PILES CURED.
