STEAMER SINKS IN THAMES
STRUCK BY ANOTHER'S PKOPELLOR By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Aug. 31, 5.5 p.m. London, Aug. 30. The propeller of the Pandos Beltana holed the steamer Torrington in a collision in the Thames, tho Torrington sinking alongside the wharf. The Beltana and Torrington were proceeding together down the Gravesend Reach when the former struck and cut in halves a small motor boat which had broken down. Its sole occupant jumped into the river and was rescued by a tug. The Beltana then swung and, as a result, the Torrington was holed and beached in a sinking condition. The Beltana was able to proceed to Australia.
