WIN FOR WAIRARAPA, KING COUNTRY EASILY BEATEN. Taumarunui, Last Night. Wairarapa met the King Country today before a large crowd, despite the unfavourable weather. Heavy showers last night and this morning made the ground a quagmire. Notwithstanding the bad conditions, the Wairarapa backs handled the ball magnificently and won comfortably by 27 points to 3. Wairarapa were superior in all departments and .the local defence was very weak. Stringfellow opened Wairarapa’s account, cutting right through the defence and Fuller converted. Then Cooke scored after a fine passing bout. Fuller failed with the kick. Just before half-time Ward scored, after following up kicks by Cooke. Cooke failed to convert. Wairarapa 11, King Country 0. After half-time the visitors had things their own way. Cooke, Usher, Gray and Le Quesne scored and Fuller and Le Quesne converted one try each. Cavanagh scored for the King Country from a forward rush. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ TOURNEY. WON BY WAIRARAPA. Masterton, Last Night. The Wellington Provincial Primary School -Rugby tournament was concluded to-day, Wairarapa winning the banner with an undefeated record. To-day’s results were: Wairarapa 13 v. Wellington 3; Wanganui 16 v. Manawatu 0. A summary of the games shows that Wairarapa had three wins and no losses, Wellington, Wanganui and Manawatu each one win and two losses. BOYS’ SOCCER TEAM. DEFEAT OF WANGANUI. Wanganui, Last Night. The Australian hoys’ Soccer team today defeated a Wanganui boys’ team by 5 goals to nil. WANGANUI DEFEATS BUSH. FAST AND OPEN GAME. By Telegraph.-—Press Association. I’ahiatua, Last Night. In a fast and open encounter Wanganui defeated Bush Union by 6 points. The back play was inclined to be scrappy but the forward divisions were well matched and fought a gruelling contest. Jones, the Maori three-quarter, scored two tries. The half-time score was 3 to nil in favour of the home team. After the second spell had been going for about fifteen minutes the referee ordered Jackson, the Wanganui lock, off for “backchatting” his decisions, having previously warned this player.

the New Zealand Rugby Union pointing out the strenuous nature of the All Black trial programme and suggested that if possible the final trial match of the New Zealand Possibles v.
