THE MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Citizens’ Council was held in the Y.W.C.A. Ijoetel on May 28. Chief Citizen P. Hayton was in the chair. Representatives from all sections and Miss Cole were pressent. The Hoa and Mahiteka sections reported that they were leading in the campaign for new members. This and a song contest are to be the two contests worked for during June in readi. nees for the community gathering at the end of the month. Basket ball was being held fortnightly at the Tukapa ground. The attendance was poor. A sub-committee of the following was set up to be notified regarding play. Misses P. Bennett, H. Everiss and A. Garcia. One ramble had been held during the month. M>ss Cole reported that the jumnle sale had resulted in a profit of £2O. Thanks were accorded those who had helped. This and a special donation of £1 Is had been devoted to the club room fund. Correspondence from headquarters notified that Miss Bridgman, the National Chief Counsellor, would bo arriving about June 6 for three or four weeks in New Plymouth. Miss Anderson, a secretary on furlough from the Y.W.C.A. in Shanghai, would be visiting New Plymouth for two days during August. Recommendations for functions during Miss Bridgman’s visit were then discussed. A ramble, a banquet and a special community gathering were decided on, the dates to be fixed as soon as more definite news could be obtained.
