MR. W. E. SPENCER DEAD
REVOLVER BESIDE THE BODY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 31. William Edward Spencer, well known in connection with education, aged 63, who has been living in retirement in Mulgrave Street, was found dead on the Thorndon breastwork with a revolver beside him, shot in the head. He had been suffering from ill-health.- He leaves a widow and grown-up family. The late Mr. Spencer, who held the degrees of M.A. and M.Sc., had been a teacher and an inspector in Taranaki under the Education Department. He organised the School Journal, and latterly had been in charge of the building branch of the department.
