CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION
POSITION OF A DROVER. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Napier, Last Night. Louis William Maultsaid failed in a claim in the Arbitration Court to-day against J. A. Miller, sheepfarmer, for compensation for injuries reserved as the result of an accident. The evidence showed that plaintiff was employed to drove sheep for his employer. After putting the sheep in the paddock for the night, plaintiff rode away on a horse which stumbled and the latter suffered injury. Counsel argued that the employment of the drover was continuous, as in the case of seamen and domestic servants and that plaintiff, therefore, was entitled to compensation. The Court disagreed with this view and dismissed the case, though the judge, Mr. Frazer, agreed that responsibility was continuous.
