MR. S. PATERSON’S POSITION

EARLY GOVERNMENT STATEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. In reply to a question, Mr. Coates said that there were no further developments regarding Mr. T. Paterson’s resignation from the position of Government representative of the Control Board in London. It was possible there might be an announcement made within a few days. Received April 7, 7 p.m. London, April 6. Tooley Street, although not desiring to comment, regrets Mr. Paterson's resignation, as it regards him as the ablest man of the agency. Meanwhile the New Zealand butter position is gradually improving. “If New Zealanders are wise,” said an authority, “they will seek to recover goodwill by co-operation with the trade. Denmark sells weekly supplies as they are received. “If. New Zealand began winter dairying, and maintained supplies all the year round, and sold freshly on arrival in Britain, New Zealand prices should equal those of Danish butter.”
