THE FAIRY TALE 800
Every time I take a look At wy fairy picture-book, Elves and goblins suddenly Hurry out to play with roe! Round they dance, on nimble feet. Softly singing carols sweet: Silver wings wave to and fro, As they fleetly come and go. Fairyland is far away. I can go there every day With my book —one peep inside Opens fairy gateways wide. Gnome and pixy, puck and sprite, Flutter by in rays of light, Troop across the nursery floor, Through my book’s enchanted door. YVhen my nodding sleepy- head Tells me that it’s time for bed. Then I shut the book, and lo! All the fairies homeward go. Back between the leaves they hie, There secure and safe they lie; Till I take another look At my fairy picture book!
