WEDDING.

WEAL—LAFFERTY. The wedding was solemnised at St. Andrew’s Church, Levin, on Monday, Jan. 3, of Leslie John,'youngest sqn of Mr. and Mrs. Weal, of Hamilton East, and Phyllis Cecilia Lafferty, grand-daughter of Mrs. Dan and the late Mr. Hannon, of Levin. The church was tastefully decorated by the choir members, the ceremony being choral. The Rev. Father Lynch officiated. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. Will Hannon, was charmingly attired in a simple frock of chamouse broche with long bodice edged with silver braid. She wore a magnificent veil and Russian head dress, the work of the Sisters of St. Joseph, Levin, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet of hothouse flowers, white Scotch heather and maidenhair fern. Her sister, Gwen Lafferty, acted as bridesmaid and was gowned in a charming frock of pink georgette over satin and carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. Little Nora Hannon, cousin of the bride, made a charming flower girl in a dainty frilled frock of pale blue georgette. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Eric Sharp, of Whangarei. After the ceremony a reception was held in the De Luxe lounge. Mrs. Hannon received her guests in a very smart black marocain ensemble and black hat. Miss Hannon wore a very charming Bois de Rose daintily trimmed with coffee coloured lace and hat to match; Mrs. Arthur Avery a becoming black georgette frock richly embroidered in gold and petunis beads and black hat with ospreys; Mrs. Turn well a pretty blue marocain ensemble; Miss E. Doyle a smart pink marocain frock and crinoline hat to match, and Miss Grace Averv a dainty pink floral georgette frock'and smart fawn hat. The bride travelled in a petunia floral crepe de chine ensemble with a very smart hat.

HARRIS—MALCOLM SON. At St. John’s Church, Dannevirke, recently Miss Eileen Malcolmson, only daughter of Mrs. Malcolmson, of Dannevirke, formerly of Wellington, and grand-daughter of Mr. William Stuart, late resident Magistrate at New Plymouth, was married to Mr. Wilford Roland Harris, eon of Mr. and Mrs. Harris, of Greenmeadows, Napier. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. W. N. Haire, of Wellington, wore, a frock of amethyst georgette over satin, with touches of pale blue and ceriee, with which was worn a picture hat of blue and amethyst to tone. Her bouquet was of Christmas lilies and heliotrope sweet-peas. The bridesmaid was Miss Kathleen Haire, cousin of the bride, who wore a frock of primrose georgette, trimmed with real lace, and cream hat with heliotrope trimmings, her bouquet being of heliotrope sweetpeas and cream roses. The best man was Mr. H. Brittain, of Dannevirke. Rev. G. B. Stephenson officiated. After the ceremony a large party of relatives and friends were entertained, the decorations and china being all of amethyst and heliotrope shades. Later Mr. and Mrs. Harris left for a wedding trip by car, th© bride travelling in an ensemble suit of amethyst repp cloth and black hat trimmed to tone. Mr. and Mrs. James Phillips, of Collingwood Street, Eltham, celebrated their golden wedding on New Year’s Day, when a large gathering of their children, relatives, and friends assembled to extend their congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips have resided in the Eltham and Mangatoki districts for many years and have mode a host of friends who wish them continued good health and a continuance of many happy years of life.
