WOOL MARKET BUOYANT
SALES AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The second Christchurch wool sale of the season opened to-night, when 8000 bales were offered and all but 14 were sold at a particularly keen sale. Values were Id per lb better than at the sales immediately preceding, and 2d better than at the Christchurch December sale. All buying points were represented in competition, Bradford being particularly active. Top prices, according to description, were: —Merino, 21Jd (in December 19jd), Corriedale 20Jd (21jd), halfbred 211 d (20jd), threequarter bred 16Jd (Ifijd), crossbred 16Jd (13Jd), Corriedale pieces (ls3d), halfbred pieces 17fd (17d). The point about the rights of auction, however, is that a heavy proportion of the halfbred and Corriedale offering ranged from 17Jd to 19d, compared to IGd to 17d at the last sale, with crossbred from Ujd to 13d, as against 10d to lid. The sale will be continued to-morrow.
