A treasure trove inquest in an ancient form has been opened by the coroner at Rotherhithe to decide tho ownership of 40 half-sovereigns, six sovereigns and some gold trinkets found in excavations on a property in Bermondsey. The jury found it was a genuine treasure trove and the coroner ordered that it should go to the Treasury, explaining that the State was always liberal to the finders.
