RECORD IN SWIMMING
LINDSAY’S 880 YARDS EFFORT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. D. P. Lindsay, a member of the Canterbury team selected to compete at the New Zealand championship swimming carnival at Auckland, swam a challenge raee against A. Stokes and P, Hill at the East Christchurch baths tonight over 880 yards. Lindsay won eas : ily by 35 yards from Stokes, with Hill 15 yards further back. Lindsay’s time, llmin 54 3-ssec, is a New Zealand record. The previous best time registered in the Dominion was llmin 59 2 6(>ee by A. Baird, of Auckland.
