POISON ALCOHOL
306'0 DEATHS OCCUR. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Washington, Jan. 4. National attention continues to be focussed on the 3000 deaths from the Government poisoned denatured alcohol during the recent holiday season. Mr. Mellon, Secretary of the Treasury, has urged the Government to use all possible speed to remove the poison ingredients from the present supplies. The American Chemical Society has approached its 1500 members for suggestions for a new non-poisonous denaturant. General Andrews, head of the prohibition force, announced that it was safe to assume that most of these holi'day deaths were caused from officially poisoned denatured alcohol, from which the bootleggers thought they had removed the poison, but had failed.
