DECEMBER WEATHER

AN UNSETTLED MONTH. The weather during the month of December was generally unsettled, but there was no exceptionally heavy rain or wind. The last ten days were hotter than usual. The warm and humid conditions were very favourable to growth. The rainfall for the month was 4.14 inches, and rain fell on 14 days. The heaviest fall was 1.10 inches on the 12th. The mean temperature was 59.8 deg. (58.7 deg. last year). The highest shade temperature recorded was 77.5 deg. on the 29th, and the lowest 36.1 deg. on the 3rd. The mean maximum temperature in the sun was 119 deg. and Hie highest record 141 deg. on the 29th. The mean minimum temperature on the grass was 49.8 deg., and. the lowest record 3'2.2 deg. on the 3rd. There were 218 hours smin bright sunshine, practically the same as last year. There were five sunless days. There were no serious gales during the month.
