HISTORIC CHAPEL BURNED
OVERTURNED LAMP CAUSES BLAZE By Telegraph—Press Asm).—Copyright. Received Jan. 3, 8.30 p.in. London, Jan. 3. The historic Livingstone Congregational Chapel in Stanford Rivers, Essex, has been destroyed by fire. Mre. Kenniford, who was conducting a service, overturned an oil lamp as the service was starting and the chapel was quickly a mass of flames. Mrs. Kenniford escaped with difficulty. Livingstone’s bible was destroyed. This church was one in which Dr. Livingstone preached hie first sermon. After mounting the pulpit, he was seized with nervousness and rushed out of the building.
